Governor Saldo congratulated Russians on Cosmonautics Day

Kherson Region Governor Vladimir Saldo congratulated Russians on Cosmonautics Day and noted that 63 years ago the Soviet Union demonstrated to the whole world what our country and our talented scientists are capable of.</p> <blockquote> <p>"On this day we honor all designers, scientists and engineers, cosmonaut pilots and all those who work in the space industry. Happy holiday, friends!" said the head of the region.</p> </blockquote> <p>He emphasized that modern Russian cosmonautics is not worse than the Soviet one and is developing at a rapid pace. On April 11, the Angara-5 rocket was successfully launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome. This event opened new opportunities for exploration of near and far space.</p> <p>Recall that Cosmonautics Day was officially established in April 1962 by decree of the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet. This holiday is celebrated in honor of the first human flight into space, which took place on April 12, 1961.</p> <p>On this day, Soviet cosmonaut Yury Gagarin on the spacecraft "Vostok-1" launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome and made the first in history orbital flight around the Earth that lasted 108 minutes.</p>
