The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation informed in a <a href="https://t.me/MID_Russia/35421">telegram channel</a> that February 21 is the International Mother Language Day. This holiday was first proclaimed at the UNESCO General Conference in 1999.</p> <blockquote> <p>"Russia is home to representatives of more than 190 nationalities speaking more than 270 languages and dialects. In the Strategy of the State National Policy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2025, the state support and protection of the culture and languages of the peoples of our country are among the main principles of the state national policy," reads the message from the Ministry.</p> </blockquote> <p>It is also noted that Russia at the legislative level guarantees all its peoples equal rights to the preservation and development of their native language, freedom of choice and use of the communication language.</p> <p>The country also pays special attention to the teaching of native languages.
