GENICHESK. TAVRIA. This year, a man with terminal kidney failure became the first person in the world to receive a kidney from a genetically modified pig. His name was Mr. Rick Slayman and he was 62 years old. This is reported by Reuters.

Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital report that his death was sudden.

"We have no indication that it was the result of his recent transplant," they say.

Slayman received a human liver transplant in 2018, but had to resume treatment five years later. Next, eGenesis of Cambridge, Massachusetts, provided a pig liver from which the genes harmful to humans were removed and the right genes were also added to improve compatibility. Despite this, however, Slayman passed away. Doctors will be determining the cause of death.
