GENICHESK. TAVRIA. France24 reports on the government's decision to invite Russia to the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy, but the country's representative should not be Vladimir Putin, although a host of world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, are expected to attend the event.

"In view of the circumstances, President Putin will not be invited to take part in the commemorations of the Normandy landings. Russia will however be invited... to honor the importance of the commitment and sacrifices of the Soviet peoples, as well as well as its contribution to the 1945 victory," the Liberation Mission organizing committee said.

No other details were provided.

The Kremlin has already commented on the news.
