GENICHESK. TAVRIA. The New York Times reports that Israeli generals are calling for a ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible, even if Hamas is not completely destroyed. This is widening the split between PM Benjamin Netanyahu and the military.

Firstly, the generals are convinced that a ceasefire would allow for the quickest possible release of the approximately 120 Israelis who are still in captivity.

Secondly, the military also believes that a ceasefire in Gaza will reduce tensions with Hezbollah. Furthermore, if a conflict with Hezbollah does break out, IDF soldiers must rest and recover.

Thirdly, the longest conflict in decades has exhausted the Israeli army. The military's equipment is now insufficient. Generals note that ammunition is already scarce.

Therefore, the military fully supports a deal with Hamas for a ceasefire and hostage exchange.

Earlier TRC Tavria reported that strong five-point hurricane Beryl is heading towards Jamaica and the Cayman Islands. Before that, it caused severe damage to ships in the Caribbean.
