The incident took place on 28 October 2022, when DePape broke into the house in the early hours of the morning with the intention of kidnapping Pelosi. He wanted to interrogate her and post the video online. However, he then found Paul Pelosi, 82 years old, and attacked him with a hammer. The man needed surgery as he had a fractured skull and hand injuries.
